Optional analytics

FindAPier does not load Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, or Cloudflare Web Analytics until a visitor explicitly opts in. Rejecting analytics is as easy as accepting it, and choices are stored only in this browser's local storage.

When analytics is enabled, FindAPier sends privacy-limited counts for public page views and meaningful interactions such as pier guide views, safe search categories, result clicks, map marker clicks, directions clicks, source link clicks, guide tabs, pagination, and successful community report submissions. Search text is sanitized against a strict public vocabulary before it can be sent; names, emails, phone numbers, street addresses, full URLs, report text, origins entered into directions forms, and auth tokens are not event fields.

Google Analytics 4 uses cookies after opt-in. FindAPier disables ad storage, ad personalization, Google Signals, and automatic page views. Site owners must also keep GA4 enhanced measurement off so only the manual, sanitized events are collected.

Session recording

Microsoft Clarity is separate from analytics and remains off unless selected separately. If configured, it is only loaded after opt-in, with advertising storage denied through Clarity consent v2. FindAPier masks the page body and restricts Clarity recording to the static home and about pages with no query string or hash. Same-site links and search forms leaving those pages use full-document navigation so recording stops before directory searches, pier guides, community forms, admin routes, API routes, or URLs containing query strings or hashes can be exposed to an already loaded recorder.

The site owner must keep Clarity configured with strict masking, no advertising use, and no capture of typed report text, names, emails, home addresses, directions origins, or other personal information.

Changing your choice

Use the Privacy choices control in the site footer area to revoke consent. Revocation denies provider storage, attempts to delete analytics cookies, and reloads the page so already loaded scripts are unloaded.
